I’m Amy, and Fox is my little terrier sidekick. Together, we enjoy living in tiny spaces and wandering Scotland with my camera. When Fox is sleeping or entertaining himself, you’ll find me making, building, or planning my next project or road trip.

Over the years I’ve tried my hand at plenty of crafts, been terrible at a lot of them, but have found myself enjoying working with wood and wool the most.

Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, I drifted further north into Scotland after selling my house and leaving my job. I felt wildly unfulfilled working to live and pay bills, and needed a complete lifestyle change, which I absolutely found. These days I find joy in crafting my own surroundings, spending time outdoors and challenging myself creatively.

Here you’ll find a collection of my previous projects, vehicles I’ve converted (or butchered, however you want to see it) and my online shop of hand woven pieces , wooden signs and prints of my photography.

When I know I’m leaving somewhere soon, it can be hard not to wish the time away and give in to the itch to see new sights, but I’m reminding myself to enjoy every moment of the bright, mild days in Findhorn.

I plan a morning bike ride the night before, and have everything ready. I like to roll out of bed into some clothes, have the coffee pot ready to be made so I can just turn on the gas, then pour it straight into a flask then off I go. I woke up at it was still pretty dark, a little chilly, and I really didn’t want to get out of bed but I always say to myself ‘you’ve never regretted a morning ride’…. Gets me up every time.

One of the things I touched on in the ‘February field notes’ post was how I manage downtime with the online shop. It always gets a little quieter in January/February so I mix up the extra time with stocking the shop with the regular items for when it does get busier, and also using the time to experiment. So here we go, something different. Crumb brushes with various rustic handles, listed on the carved shop now. Next up, some small sized ones designed specifically for coffee grounds I think. Would have come handy in the @cabincoffeehighlands days ☕️

The view from the bathroom (a proper room with a closing door, such luxury) in the talbot motorhome a few years ago. I spent the majority of my time on that back bench… the back of the van was my little nook.

I’ve been trawling through my first ever medium format shots taken on the Isle of Skye years ago and wanted to re-share some of them. I remember being absolutely blown away by the scenery and the buildings there and being the most annoying passenger ever and demanding to pull over every five minutes. That was taken from the side of the road in Staffin, if I remember correctly. Counting down the weeks until our move… not too long now.

I have a plethora of photography and curated interior photos to share but sometimes you have to remember it’s just Instagram and this is what really needs to be shared.

A month or so ago we towed the eriba away from findhorn for a dose of mountains. We spent a couple of nights at @bennevisholidaypark with chickens for neighbours, and spent the days exploring Glen Nevis and a jaunt along to the coast. There’s not a huge amount of campsites open all winter, so add this one to your list if you don’t mind getting out and about in the colder months.
