This Cabin Van

Before Cabin Coffee and post ‘The Handcrafted Crafter’, I lived and worked from a 1989 Talbot Express. This is the old motorhome that began my love of ‘renovating’ (aka ruining with good taste) vintage campers. This old girl was the cosiest, most cabin like vehicle I’ve ever been in, and became an icon of the successful online shop that was run entirely from inside it.

The windows didn’t lock, the door let in about an inch of breeze, it creaked and moaned every time it drove anywhere but I loved it. It tackled some of the tiniest roads and steepest hills we’ve driven in Scotland and never once let us down. The back of this van was my first real vehicle workspace, and I threw myself into weaving and spinning here. I built a large wooden desk, and I’d spend hours back there with a view over a loch or a forest. It truly became my little world and showed me how inspiring it can be to customise a tiny space to your needs, and be amongst your own handmade world.
