Working With Wool
I’ve always wanted to be able to make things with my hands, and after quitting my job and moving into a van I realised I had enough time on my hands to be able to learn a new skill. I bought a tiny loom, and it all escalated from there. I began small, making bookmarks with yarn and bits of wool plucked from fences, dabbled in some tapestry weaving and then kept going larger until I was squeezing an 80cm rigid heddle loom into a motorhome so I could make throw blankets.
I’ve been lucky enough to be featured in several books and have written an article, ‘The Joy of Plain Weave’ for the Ashford magazine ‘The Wheel’. My pieces are inspired by simplistic, but rustic designs prioritising natural colours and textures.
SMALL BATCH wholesale
I’ve been lucky enough to have my woven work stocked in shops all over the UK, from Cornwall to the very north of Scotland, and now spend a lot of my time creating small, unique batches of handmade pieces to send off to other independent businesses. This is a direction I’m very proud of, and it’ll always be flattering to have some of my favourites businesses reach out to buy from me.
I stick to designs and colours that I’ve used consistently in my work, keeping these batches as authentic to my little brand as possible and giving peace of mind to my stockists that their customers will love the pieces as much as my own have over the years.
